This large field size (46X46cm or 18X18") is suitable for chest X-rays, abdominal imaging or general-purpose radiography.  The 100 LPI provides medium grid frequency and balances scatter reduction with image sharpness.  X-ray grids provide clearer radiographic images by trapping scattered radiation, the biggest contributing factor to poor diagnostic quality. Introducing an x-ray grid between the x-ray beam and the film or plate will provide a clearer and more detailed image.

Grids are expensive and fragile, it is recommended that they are incorporated into a fixed system to protect the grid and maintain proper alignment.  This can be achieved by adding the grid to a grid protector or a DR CR panel protector.  The grid protector system also provides more consistent results and makes setup more efficient.
